About FabRapid 3D Tools

Browser-based 3D conversion, compression, and viewing

FabRapid 3D Tools brings conversion, compression, and viewing into one browser workspace.

Core engines run in the browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript. We support 71 input formats and 23 output formats across CAD, mesh, scene, and 3D-printing workflows.

How It Works

Every conversion follows the same pipeline: detect the input format, parse it with the right engine, produce a GLB intermediate, then export to your target format. All in-browser.

Assimp

WASM

Open Asset Import Library compiled to WebAssembly. Handles 40+ mesh and scene formats including OBJ, FBX, 3DS, DAE, and more.

40+

OpenCASCADE

WASM

Industrial CAD kernel compiled to WebAssembly. Reads STEP and IGES files with full B-rep to mesh tessellation.

STEP/IGES

Three.js Loaders

JS

Browser-native loaders for VTK, PCD, VOX, USDZ, KMZ, GCode, NRRD, WRL, and XYZ formats. Runs in a dedicated Web Worker.

12+

glTF-Transform

JS

High-performance GLB/glTF processing. Handles read, write, optimize, and compress operations on the universal 3D transmission format.

GLB/glTF

Custom Parsers

TS

Purpose-built TypeScript parsers for formats where existing engines fall short: Terragen terrain, Irrlicht mesh, X3D scenes, and Model 3D binaries.

TER/X3D/M3D/IRRMESH

web-ifc

WASM

IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) parser for BIM files. Reads architectural and construction models in the browser.

Design Principles

◆

Browser processing

Core conversion work runs in the browser with WebAssembly and Web Workers.

▲

Native Performance

C++ libraries compiled to WebAssembly deliver near-native conversion speed. Web Workers keep the UI responsive during heavy processing.

■

Format Coverage

71 input formats and 23 output formats. From CAD engineering to game development to 3D printing — one tool covers it all.

Built With

The conversion engine uses a star topology architecture: all input formats convert to GLB (the binary glTF format) as an intermediate, then GLB converts to any output format. This means adding a new input format instantly enables conversion to all 23 outputs.

The entire application runs on Next.js with React and TypeScript. Heavy computation is isolated in Web Workers to keep the UI thread responsive. WASM modules (Assimp, OpenCASCADE) are loaded on-demand — you only download the engine you need.
